Peter Salifanov, Deputy Chief of Dept. of Communal Services and Municipal Improvements, Prefecture of Moscow SWAD

Do not throw your pets into the street!

(extract)

-It looks like people tend to ignore stray dogs (unlike pets)?
      - No, they don’t. We have plenty of tender-hearted dwellers, willing to share with a stray dog the last crumb of bread, take to their place, thus providing a shelter. Unfortunately, sometimes, such practice leads to tragic consequences. Remember what happened in Northern Butovo. An elderly woman picked up a stray puppy in the street, and as it was found later, it was sick. The puppy infected with rabies other dogs, living in the same apartment, and then the landlady herself. The woman, having fallen victim to her own kindness, died.
